Given the severe consequences of abortion criminalization in Brazil, it’s urgent to build a critical mass to pressure the State to expand abortion rights.
Synopsis
Based on the record of her own failed pregnancy, director Eliza Capai speaks with other women who have gone through similar experiences, creating a powerful and moving chorus of voices reflecting on universal themes: life, death, grief, and public policies that affect us all.

Why learn about this impactful campaign?
This campaign serves as a reference for projects addressing gender issues, especially those related to sexual and reproductive rights. It is also a model for those planning advocacy and communication strategies around sensitive or highly contentious topics.
Initially, the campaign focused on advocacy efforts to raise national and international awareness about the difficulties in accessing legal abortion in Brazil, using the film’s public attention as a tool to apply pressure on institutions like the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
It also aimed to strengthen grassroots organizations and build critical awareness around nonviable pregnancies and parental grief. To achieve this, private screenings for invited guests were held, along with community-organized sessions scheduled through Taturana’s platform. In the final phase, a website was created to guide people experiencing nonviable pregnancies and the healthcare professionals who support them.
