Why learn about this impactful campaign?

The Toshkua impact campaign amplifies the search for missing migrants from a transnational perspective, driven by the alliance between the documentary, Honduran mother Mary Martínez, and other search committees and collectives. Through community and educational screenings, collective embroidery events, legal advocacy, and regional coordination, the campaign highlights migrant families’ struggle for their rights. The strategy merges art, film, and activism, building partnerships with search collectives, organizations such as Fundación para la Justicia, and academic institutions. This experience is relevant for those working at the intersection of film and human rights, showing how ethical and creative collaboration can shape documentary filmmaking into a space for truth, memory, and justice—always alongside families of the disappeared.
